Altar Dedication

Dedication of an altar made for Rutilio Grande Iglesia Luterana church in El Salvador, June 27, 2010

The altar was made by Dick Lund (far left on the photo) and is very similar to the one used in our church.  The church in El Salvador was recently constructed and they were in need of an altar.  After the dedication, the altar was disassembled, shipped, and reassembled on site with the help of Dick and several other Hope people.

"As iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another." Proverbs 27:17

All men are invited to be a part of Hope’s Men in Mission. They are men that are committed to serving each other and the community.  The men are involved in a number of activities....picking up the litter on the 101 Freeway from Traffic Way to Del Rio (northbound) is one of them (generally meet the last Saturday of the month at 8:00 am behind the gas station at El Camino & Del Rio roads).

This ministry focuses on prayer requests submitted on prayer request forms each week at the services. Following the services the requests are compiled into an e-mail message and sent to members of the Prayer Network. Those people will spend a concentrated period of time praying intently on each request. Call the church office if you would like to submit a prayer request or would like to be a praying partner.

We, as members of Hope Lutheran Youth, as witnesses for Christ, see as our purpose, sharing the loving grace of Christ among the people in this place and spreading the gospel message to our community and the world.  The Sunday Night Lutherans (SNL) meet every Sunday night from 6-8pm.  Come for games, pizza, and discussion.

The Quilting Circle is open to any interested member of Hope Lutheran. There’s something for everyone to do even if you don’t sew. They meet on the 2nd Saturday of each month at the church at 9 am. Call the office for Clydean’s phone number if you have any questions.

A praise band that leads congregational singing at our 9:30 am service. They also provide music at offering times and during communion. Rehearsals are weekly; short-term time commitment to start. If you would like to be involved with this singing group call the office.

Each month members of Hope Lutheran serve a meal to the hungry and homeless of the area. These volunteers serve on the 2nd Tuesday. Serving takes place from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The First Baptist Church of Atascadero provides their facilities for this program. If you are willing to participate in this ministry you may call Norma Mueller or Joan Helgren.

If you are interested in being part of this ministry contact Dalene Eimon. They rehearse every Tuesday at 6:00 pm. You don’t need to know how to ring because there are beginning lessons.  A little knowledge of music would be helpful, but thechoir would love to have anyone that is willing to learn.

STEPHEN MINISTRY: Christ Caring for People through People

The Stephen Ministry recognizes that we all are broken people and that it is only through the cross of Jesus that we are made whole.

Hope’s Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

We all experience challenges in life—times when we could benefit from the support of a caring Christian friend.  Stephen Ministers are ready to provide the emotional and spiritual care we need when faced with a crisis or difficulty.

We also have a HELPING HANDS MINISTRY at Hope.  This ministry is used to provide meals and/or services to our member families who are grieving the loss of a loved one, celebrating the birth of a new child, recovering from an illness or surgery, or another situation that might benefit from our help.

HOPE 1:

This is our new member class.  It introduces you to the basics of faith, the Lutheran Church, and the vision and values of Hope Lutheran.

HOPE 2:

Discussion of how to have passionate spiritual life.  It teaches you how to read and study the Bible and gives you techniques to enliven your prayer life.

This about our life together as Christians....why is worship important? do we support one another in the faith?

Discover your gifts and brainstorm with others on how you can use them to praise God and serve others.  (Gives you a lot of insight into yourself.)
